Goodwood Festival of Speed
Goodwood Update
Lotus are having an amazing weekend here at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The weather is great and the cars are fantastic.
Yesterday we had half of Blake (not as painful as it sounds) in the first Supercar run 'up the hill' as Humphrey took the climb in the Exgie 260 whilst Ollie opted for the comfort of the Evora. With Stephen in last year's run we're only Jules left to go to complete the set!
The afternoon session saw Dan Trent in the second Supercar Parade at the wheel of the Exige - ready his story on msn; http://msnukcars.spaces.live.com/
Lord March, our host for the weekend, drove the historic Lotus Type 38 round the Goodwood circuit making him the second driver since Jim Clark who drove the car to victory in the 1965 Indy 500 race. Take a look at our snap shot of this exciting moment!
What's The Goodwood Festival of Speed about?
The Festival of Speed is the largest motoring garden party in the world – a unique summer weekend that brings together an impossibly heady mix of cars, stars and motor sport ‘royalty’ to create the largest car culture event in the world. Held in the immaculate grounds of Goodwood House, this annual hill-climb event is a true celebration of motor sport and all things automotive.
The Festival plays homage to the most significant and salient cars in the history of international motor sport, with entry by personal invitation from Lord March.
All cars and motorcycles are painstakingly selected to reflect the event’s major theme of the year, and to ensure their authenticity and provenance, all competing vehicles are presented in their original condition and livery.
Key to the Festival of Speed’s inimitable character is its friendly and informal air and spectators are afforded real access to the cars and their drivers. The guest list is as long as it is distinguished, peppered with names like Moss and Surtees, Button and Hamilton, Stewart and Andretti, Solberg and Fogarty.
Nowhere else would you be able to meet and chat to these motoring heroes and legends in such a relaxed and easy-going atmosphere. Unrivalled throughout the world, it’s no wonder that The Times calls it ‘The greatest show on earth’.
